Little White Mice (2026)

Little White Mice is a site-specific, immersive performance project created for the Ouseburn Festival, celebrating the remarkable history of the Maling Pottery factory in Byker – once the largest pottery in the world – and the predominantly female workforce who powered it. Women made up 75% of Maling’s workforce, earning the nickname “Little White Mice” for the fine clay dust that covered them as they left the factory each day.

Featuring community workshops and promenade performances embodying the characters of the Little White Mice and weaving together stories of the women, their community, and their era. The brewery’s original factory floor becomes a living archive of working-class history.
